Coaches CornerWelcome to Coaches CornerOur association policy has always been that if a child wants to play soccer, he or she will play soccer. With the dramatic growth in the valley, this is becoming more difficult. A lack of coaches will likely force us to limit the number of children we can register each season. Most of the coaching needs are with the younger players. Children in U-5, U-6, and U-8 could be effected by a lack of available coaches. As a parent, if you've thought you might want to coach or help out, TVSA can help. First, figure out if you have the time to coach a bunch of children learning about soccer. It will take 2-3 hours per week, including Saturday. Then check the Clinic schedule to find out when and where coaching help is available (see below). TVSA has a great number of former players among its volunteer coaches. Between the experienced coaches and the clinics, you'll have a great time, and help introduce soccer to our youngest players. If you would like more detailed information on coaching, please contact the Director of Coaches at coaches@tvsa.org. Player RatingsPlayer ratings are due by the end of each season (both Spring and Fall seasons). We are making a push to have all coaches submit the ratings for their respective teams by electronic means via the TVSA web site. Ratings are submitted using the team page customization section of the web site. In addition to being able to create and modify the team pages, coaches may also submit and manage ratings for the players on that team. The information entered into this part of the web site is completely private and no one but the Director of Coaches and the Director of the Web Site may access the information. Please follow the instructions given in the Player Ratings Instructions page to complete the rating submission. Risk ManagementTVSA is committed to providing the children in our league a safe soccer experience. The Risk Management Program is part of this commitment. All Head Coaches are required to participate in Risk Management. Assistant Coaches who will run a practice or game in the absence of the Head Coach must participate in Risk Management, but TVSA highly recommends that all Assistant Coaches go through Risk Management. Returning coaches that registered or renewed their Risk Management since 2004 should have lifetime RM status. If you have a coaching ID card/badge it should show an expiration date of 1/1/2099. First time coaches or coaches with expired RM status (certified prior to 2004) will need to register ASAP. Risk Management is now a one-time process wth no renewals needed. Also, the registration process is more flexible than in past years. Click here for details on how to renew your risk management status. Download SectionBelow are various files that are available for coaches to download and use. We will be expanding this area as we acquire more materials for coaches.
